The Book Nook

Discover the stories that shaped Sointula—visit the Book Nook for rare histories, family memoirs, and local voices you won’t find anywhere else.

Soil, Struggle and Sisu

Sointula’s early settlers farmed the island despite its rocky soil and coastal climate. Today, local growers keep the tradition alive, offering fresh produce, herbs, and eggs through markets and farm stands.

The Media Centre

This space features a seating area where visitors can watch a selection of twelve self-guided videos, each showcasing different aspects of the community’s history, culture, and traditions.

Collections

A treasure trove of history, from early photographs of Malcolm Island and rare Finnish books to a restored 34-foot gillnetter! The archival storage room is home to some of our community's oldest records, preserved for generations to come.
