Preserving and sharing the history of Malcolm Island
Artifact Donation Considerations
If you’re considering donating an object or archival item to our museum, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our Manager, Kathy Gibler. She will be more than happy to walk you through the donation process, addressing any questions or concerns you may have along the way.
While we value and consider each donation carefully, it’s important to note that we may not be able to accept every item offered to us. Our considerations encompass various factors, including the size of the item and the storage space required, the need for museum-quality preservation materials, the staff time involved in processing the donation, the presence of similar items in our collection, the physical condition of the item, any associated conditions with the donation offer, and the overall long-term significance of the item to Malcolm Island’s history.
Additionally, due to financial constraints, we regret that we are unable to purchase items to add to our collection at this time.
Your contributions are instrumental in enriching our collections and helping us better tell the story of Malcolm Island’s past. We thank you for considering the Sointula Museum as a home for your valuable historical items.
