NEWS – Vessel Kalevatar Journey to Malcolm Island Mrs. Wilander, First Woman Arrived

Kalevatar, the boat recently purchased to the Kalevan Kansa as a partner for Aino and on which a group of congenial spirits two weeks ago left for Malcolm Island from Nanaimo has now happily arrived in Kotiniemi [Home Cape]. They had experienced storms on the way. The rowboat attached to the end of the Kalevatar was filled with water in the storm and it had to be left behind. The shores in that area had been unreachable. At the end of the journey the mast had snapped, and it had to be repaired on shore. This way the journey lasted over four days, one of the days going to waste because of a strong adverse wind. During the nights no travelling was done. The first woman also arrived with this boat on Malcolm Island, Mrs. Wilander, who followed her husband.

The new log cabin of the KK is ready up to its ridge.
