KKCC Elections

There were five of them: from Friday morning (June 20th) to Tuesday evening (June 24th).

Since we already want to publish our paper at least in some form, we must leave a more detailed report for the following issues. What can, however, already be mentioned, is that our group of a hundred was able to solve the important principles that will be the foundation of our future cohabitation with astounding unanimity and harmony. There wasn’t a single discordant note.

The plans that have been published in Aika before the meeting were approved in broad outline.

Another urgent matter to be informed of is the election, which was conducted by secret ballot.

Matti Kurikka was chosen as president by all the votes of the present voting members. According to the rules the board of directors needed to be chosen by proportional representation, which meant that the number of votes of those elected varied considerably.

The following were elected:

Aug. Oberg, Austin McKela, M. Kytö, Alf. Ruis, V. Jalo, Osv. Beckman, H. Lukkarinen, G. Iron, Th. Tanner, W. Wesa, K. A. Aho, and M. Halminen. The auditors were chosen with an open vote: V. Karstunen and R. Puro, vice auditors: A. Vilander and J. H. Tanska.

As a result of casting lots among the members of the board of directors the following members will step down after a one year period: Kytö, Ruis, Jalo, and Iron, after two years: McKela, Beckman, Tanner and Halminen, and after three years: Oberg, Lukkarinen, Wesa, and Aho (as of February 1902).

Osv. Beckman was chosen as vice president and manager, Austin McKela as secretary, Aug. Oberg as treasurer and work organizer, V. Jalo as assisting secretary, Alf. Ruis as assisting work organizer, and V. Karstunen as warehouse manager.
