Kalevan Kansa Colonization Company Ltd. First Annual Meeting

The company’s first annual meeting will be held Sunday, Feb. 23, 1902 in Nanaimo, B.C. at the Aika newspaper’s office at 77 Prideau St. at 3 p.m. Election of officers and other business will be discussed. You can vote in person or by proxy, but only those shareholders who have paid the $50.00 of the share to the treasurer before Feb. 9, 1902 are eligible to vote.

Eligible voters who are unable to attend in person may send to the secretary of the company before the start of the meeting a list of those members whom he wishes to be officers for the next year. This list must be signed by him, enclosed in a signed and sealed envelope on which he has written “Ballots”.

The company president shall be elected by the majority vote, but the rest of the board shall be elected by proportional representation as follows: each member shall have as many votes as there are positions to fill. He can vote as he wishes either by giving all his votes to one person, or distributing his votes among any or all of them. But he can’t vote more than the number of board members to be elected. The votes will be counted and those with the most votes will be elected. If it happens that a sufficient number of board members were not elected on the first ballot, a second ballot will be held immediately to fill the remaining positions. Of the 12 board members, 2/3 or 8 must be internal members.
