Dan Hillert- June Artist Spotlight
Oceana is on view from June 1st to 30th, showcasing works from nine Malcolm Island artists, each exploring the ocean’s beauty, its inhabitants, and the intricate relationship between the sea and our island community. Throughout the month we’ll be chatting with each artist participating in our latest summer exhibition.
Below is our first a rapid fire Q&A with Dan Hillert
It all began with a little instamatic, nearly 50 years ago, and I’m still pushing the shutter buttons, though the equipment has changed, but not my artistic voice.
What were the inspirations for your art piece?
May 10th 2024! The aurora borealis was amazing!!
Can you tell us about the materials you worked with?
Photo paper, Epson printer, Nikon 29 camera, Nikon 220m lens and tripod.
What’s your favourite style of work?
Landscapes – Seascapes – Macro- Wildlife.
What would you say to an aspiring artist?
Just make things that bring you joy. Show the world your joy through your work and others will see that too.
Thanks Dan!
